Indian passport division launched online apply of passport. Two methods are available for apply, one is online and another one is e-form method. The two methods provide same result, but in e-Form - it can apply later if any error occur in network.
I try to explain how to apply passport online? Before the explanation please view the "Quick Guides" from passportindia.gov.in.
Steps to Apply for online Passport Service
First visit www.passportindia.gov.in passport seva official web portal.
Step - 1 : Register yourself as a new user. Fill all details correctly and create user id or login ID.
Step - 2 : Login with log in id, password and displayed captcha characters. You will get "Applicant Home" window and click "Apply for fresh Passport or Reissue of Passport".
You can apply for new or reissue of passport through two methods.
Alternative method - 1 : Download e-Form and upload later
Download the e-form for required service from logged page or home page, fill form offline. Upload the filled form in appropriate link (See left side of your logged page)
Alternative method - 2 : Fill application form online and apply
Click the "Fill the application form online" option and tick the required services and go to next.
Schedule Appointment
Online payment is mandatory for booking appointments. See the list of Passport Seva Kendra and ATM facility available in PSKs. Payments can made through Credit or Debit card, Internet Banking of State Bank of India and SBI associates banks only and SBI bank Challan. For Fee Calculator
After the application submission you will get "Schedule Appointment" option. Select PSK location, enter the displayed characters and click the next button. Continue the "Pay and Book appointment" option and complete the payment procedure with suitable payment method.
Print Application Receipt
After the successful appointment booking, you will get application number. Print the confirmed application receipt.
Track Passport Application Status
Track and check your application status online with file number and date of birth.
You can also track the status of RTI and diplomatic applications.
